I’m putting together a Fun French Fall feast. As part of the started I wanted to have a brie appetizer plate. Brie and jam are such a great combo, but what would really make this plate feel like fall? Cranberries and why not make it a Chai Spiced Cranberry Jam?
This recipe is really simple it takes about 35 min total and most of that is just letting the jam ‘simmer down now’. LOL I crack myself up.
The Ingredients
The ingredients for this recipe are really simple Cranberries, sugar and water. That’s the base. Then to make it chai spiced I used the spices that you will typically find in chai tea. Those are ginger, cardamom, cloves and cinnamon. I also added nutmeg, allspice and star anise for good measure.
How It’s Made
Put in all the spices and the water and sugar bring to a boil. Since this is such a small batch this should be really quick. Add in the cranberries and the ginger, bring the whole thing back to a boil and then turn down to heat to a simmer. Simmer for 25 min stirring and mashing the cranberries as they get soft.
You should end up with a moderately thick cranberry sauce. Fish out any whole spices that you used. Use an emersion blender to mash up the rest of the cranberries. You may want to let the jam cool a bit before using the emersion blender.
That’s it!

1/4 tsp ground allspice
3 whole cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 star anise

- Reduce the heat to a simmer and simmer for 25 minutes stirring occasionally and mashing the cranberries as they soften. It should reduce to a medium thick jam. You may need to add a little more water one tbsp at a time if it gets too dry.
- Take the jam off the heat and let it cool enough to handle and remove any whole spices used.
- Use an emersion blender to smooth out the rest of the cranberries.
